About Calvary Chapel Southbury
Calvary Chapel Southbury is a non-denominational, evangelical, Christian Church devoted to knowing Jesus and walking with Him. It is located in Bennett Square on Main Street in Southbury, Connecticut. History This fellowship began as a home church in 1998, with just a small gathering
of believers studying God’s Word. As time passed, the group began to grow
and God provided a location in a commercial plaza in Southbury as a meeting
place. The church now occupies four consecutive store fronts in that same
building, which have been remodeled to accommodate the expanding church
family. Included in this redesign are updated Children's
Ministry classrooms as well as a furnished Teen
Center furnished for youth group meetings and monthly
Potluck gatherings. Calvary Chapel Southbury takes seriously the call that Jesus gives to
“love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31). In local
communities, there is opportunity to serve our neighbors through the Loaves
and Fishes Ministry, and the Abbott Terrace Hospitality Ministry.
Also, Community Growth Groups
and Discipleship
Groups are available, and are ways to extend God’s loving hand to
brothers and sisters through Bible study, fellowship, and encouragement.
Calvary Southbury is affiliated with a group of international churches begun by Pastor Chuck Smith of Costa Mesa, California. Though Calvary Chapel is not a denomination, the movement is known for its mission to teach through books of the Bible chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. At Calvary Southbury, emphasis is placed on spiritual growth through teaching God’s Word, prayer, discipleship, and worship. It is believed that:
Services at Calvary Chapel Southbury are held on Sundays at 10:00 am and
the mid-week Bible study is on Thursday nights at 7:00 pm.
