Calvary Chapel Southbury Prison Ministry
I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you
visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.
-Matthew 25:36
Just like the rest of us, a person incarcerated is
always in need of a closer walk with, or an introduction to, Jesus.
In fact, at one time we were all imprisoned by our own sin. Without
Jesus Christ, we would have remained in that sin.
On Thursday afternoons, Calvary Chapel of Southbury ministers with
a small team at Putnam County Correctional Facility in Carmel, NY
where they hold a weekly Bible Study. Men and women alike attend
for a time of reading and studying the Word, prayer and fellowship.
Bibles are also provided as needed.
The prisoners are given a chance to accept Jesus as
Lord and Savior, and prayer requests/praise reports are taken. Many
great testimonies have come out of this ministry, many lives have
been saved and changed for the good, the bonds of sin broken and
the prisoners freed from sin. The prisoners receive a sense of freedom
they cannot get from their life, unlike so many on the outside who
walk through life enslaved to sin!
The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives,
and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised...
