Teen/Youth Group Ministry
Calvary Chapel Southbury is a Non-Denominational Church
Teen Youth Group (12 to
18 years old)
Our
vision for the Teen Youth Group is to encourage teens to seek
the Lord Jesus Christ and have a personal relationship with
Him. Meetings include Bible study, fun, refreshments, and
an opportunity to make a difference in the community.
The group meets Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 and Sunday
mornings from 10:30-11:30 two to three times per month. Teens
are encouraged to join their parents in the main sanctuary
for worship on the Sundays that Youth Group
is not held.
At Calvary Southbury, many children are part of our church
family, including teens. As these Christian youth mature,
they require more than just Sunday school instruction, for
a variety of reasons:
- They may not have grown up in church or may not be saved
yet
- They have different interests than small children and
adults
- They are in that difficult, transitional period between
childhood and adulthood, which can be a confusing time,
creating unique struggles
- They are often able to understand the Bible in a deeper
way on their own
- They need proper Christian education to protect them
from the world as they enter adulthood, college, etc.
- They need answers, will seek answers and, if they do not
get them from the Word of God, they will get the wrong answers
from whatever source is nearby, including worldly influences
- Teens often will open up and ask questions (and accept
answers) from someone other than their parents
To this end, we strive to supply them with sound Biblical
doctrine, presented in an interactive and vitally applicable
way, always keeping it relevant to their life as a teen. This
includes applying the lessons taught to their daily life in
school, with friends, family - perhaps even at work. They
come to learn without feeling that they are in a formal classroom
- but never compromising doctrine.
In addition to this,
we have regular activities outside of the church that they
can participate in, such as BMX bike riding, sports, bonfires,
hiking, camping, etc.
