Calvary Southbury Generosity Fund

Supporting the Work of Calvary Southbury

Give From What You Own. Not Just What You Earn.

Many people give from their income through cash, check and credit card even though much of what they own is held in appreciated assets.

Why Consider Giving Appreciated Assets?

The Generosity Fund provides a tax efficient way to support the ministries of Calvary Southbury.

Donating long-term appreciated assets before they are sold may allow donors to:

  • Reduce or eliminate capital-gains tax

  • Qualify for a charitable income-tax deduction

  • Direct more to ministry instead of taxes

  • Increase giving vs. giving only from income

Getting Started is Easy!

Calvary Southbury stewards God’s resources for the spiritual and practical needs of others.

Gifts received support Calvary Southbury’s General Ministry, Building and Missions Funds.

Because charitable gifts are generally irrevocable once accepted, please see our Gift Acceptance Guidelines below and contact us before initiating a gift

The Calvary Southbury Generosity Fund welcomes gifts to our General Ministry Fund, Building Fund (building-related expenses, debt reduction and capital improvements) and our Missions Fund.

To help ensure that gifts to the Missions Fund are deployed in a timely and effective manner, gifts will be accepted until the church's missions funding needs for the year have been met. In 2026, the Missions Fund need is $10,000 and once this has been met, donors will be invited to direct their gift to another approved ministry or to make an unrestricted gift. Because charitable gifts are generally irrevocable once accepted, please contact generosityfund@calvarysouthbury.com before initiating a gift to the Missions Fund.

We also welcome gifts designated for other broad ministry purposes. Additional donor-proposed ministry purposes may be considered only when they are approved in writing by the Lead Pastor before the donor initiates the gift. Accepted gifts must advance an established priority of the church, be consistent with the church’s mission and be able to be administered without undue legal, financial or administrative burden.

Calvary Southbury will not approve gifts or gift restrictions that benefit named individuals, confer donor control, conflict with the church’s doctrine, mission, governing documents or applicable law or impose disproportionate legal, financial or administrative obligations. Gifts processed through National Christian Foundation are also subject to National Christian Foundation's gift acceptance policies and review procedures, as applicable. Additional guidance is available in the church's comprehensive Gift Acceptance Policy.

The information provided is for educational purposes only and is not legal, tax, accounting or financial advice. Tax consequences and charitable deduction rules vary based on each donor’s circumstances and applicable law. Donors should consult their own qualified professional attorney, tax advisor, or other professional regarding their specific situation. All gifts are subject to NCF’s review, acceptance policies, governing documents, fees, and procedures.
